A little more kindness, a little more you.
Welcome to The Kind Counselling Practice. Warm, confidential, integrative therapy for adults in Solihull and online. A space to explore what’s going on, at your own pace, with an approach shaped around you.
I’m Laura. I’m a qualified therapist, but more importantly, I’m a human first, and I believe therapy begins with the relationship.
For me, creating a genuine, authentic therapeutic relationship where you feel held, heard, and accepted is at the heart of my work. I want to offer you a warm, kind, and confidential space where you don’t have to have everything figured out or present a certain version of yourself. A space where you can be human and be you.
Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if it’s your first time. You might not know what to expect, what to say, or even where to begin. That’s okay.
I offer a free 20-minute introductory conversation so we can talk, get to know one another, and explore what brought you to therapy. It’s also a chance to ask questions and get a feel for whether working together feels right for you.
How we can work together & specialist areas.
Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. As an integrative practitioner, I draw from different therapeutic models to suit your individual needs, ensuring our work together feels collaborative, supportive, and grounded in warmth. Whether you are facing anxiety, life transitions, or past trauma, we move at your pace.
I provide both in-person therapy sessions in Solihull and flexible online therapy across the UK. Each 50-minute session offers a confidential space where you can speak openly, explore your feelings without judgement, and work towards meaningful self-understanding and healing.
I work with adults experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, from anxiety and low self-esteem to grief, trauma and significant life changes. I also have specific training in trauma and domestic violence. Below are some of the areas I work with, although you don't need to identify with a particular difficulty to benefit from therapy.
Anxiety, Stress & Overwhelm
Anxiety and stress can leave you feeling constantly on edge, caught up in your thoughts or struggling to switch off. Counselling offers space to explore what's contributing to these feelings, understand your responses and develop a greater sense of balance
Relationship Struggles
Our relationships can bring connection and comfort, but they can also leave us feeling hurt, confused or misunderstood. Counselling can help you explore relationship patterns, understand your emotional responses and reflect on your needs, boundaries and the ways you connect with others.
Depression & low mood
Depression and low mood can affect how you see yourself, your relationships and the world around you. You might feel disconnected, unmotivated or find that everyday life takes more energy than it used to. Therapy can help you explore these experiences and begin to understand what you need.
Trauma & PTSD
Traumatic experiences can have a lasting impact on how we feel, think and relate to the world around us. You might experience anxiety, feel constantly on edge, struggle with certain memories or find that past experiences continue to affect your everyday life. Counselling offers a supportive, non-judgemental space to explore the impact of these experiences at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
Loss of Identity
There may be times when you feel unsure of who you are, what you want or where you belong. You might have spent so much time meeting other people's expectations that your own needs have become harder to recognise. Counselling offers space to reconnect with yourself, explore your values and develop a clearer sense of identity.
Low self-esteem & Confidence
The way we see ourselves can be shaped by past experiences, relationships and the expectations we place on ourselves. If you find yourself questioning your worth, seeking approval or struggling to recognise your strengths, therapy can help you explore these patterns and develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
Life changes & Transitions
Life transitions can bring unexpected emotions, even when the changes are wanted or welcomed. Becoming a parent, changing direction or adjusting to a new chapter can affect your identity, relationships and sense of self. Therapy provides space to make sense of these changes and explore how you want to move forward.
Grief & Loss
Grief can take many forms and affect each of us differently. Alongside bereavement, loss can include changes in relationships, identity or the life you thought you would have. Therapy offers space for your experiences to be heard and understood, without expectations about how grief should look or feel.
What to expect from therapy
Therapy is a collaborative process that offers time and space to explore your experiences, understand yourself more deeply and reflect on what matters to you. My approach is shaped around you as an individual, with our work guided by your needs, experiences and what you hope to gain from therapy.
A space to be yourself
You don't need to have the right words or know where to begin. This is a space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted, just as you are, without pressure or judgement.
Getting to know yourself
Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour, helping you make sense of your experiences and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.
Working at your own pace
Therapy isn't about rushing or having all the answers. We'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, allowing time to explore difficult feelings and experiences when you're ready.
Finding your own way Forward
Therapy can help you reconnect with what's important to you, recognise your strengths and explore new ways of understanding yourself and navigating life's challenges
